Volkswagen Beetle 2015 Overview

     When Volkswagen made the Beetle, little did they know then that their mass produced car for all will achieve such great levels of popularity and iconic status all over the world. Designed by Ferdinand Porsche, the Beetle entered production run in the year 1938. It has become the longest running and most manufactured vehicle to be made on a single platform. Volkswagen launched this popular hatchback in India with an attempt to bank on its classic image but unfortunately, the run wasn’t long enough due to poor acceptability and a higher price tag.

INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR

      The New Volkswagen Beetle will retain its overall outline but with altered dimensions. The classic lines on the front with round headlights and a slender flowing nose will be seen on the new Beetle too. The exterior contours have been beefed up for a more prominent design. It gets projector lights with DRL LEDs. The front bumper gets a chiselled lower jaw line with chrome lines to make it look premium.

On the side, the large wheels with equally large flares strike an impressive touch. It gets machined alloys with disc brakes on all wheels. The new Beetle will continue to be a two door car with large doors for easy ingress and egress. Body coloured door mirrors with turn indicators and a uniform shoulder line with a sweeping roof give it a stylish side profile. Even the rear is neatly finished with minimal design attributes.

Inside the new Beetle, the trims and features list is expected to change for a more modern scheme of arrangements. A touchscreen infotainment system is expected to feature in the new Beetle with grander space for occupants in the front and rear. To top it up features like satellite navigation, intelligent park assist, panoramic sun roof will come as standard as we expect the New Beetle to be available only in a single variant.

 We expect the new VW Beetle to be powered by a 1.4-litre TSI motor which makes 159 bhp of power and a 1.6-litre turbo diesel that will make 104 bhp of power but with a greater torque. Both the petrol and diesel variants will be mated with an automatic gearbox.

       German luxury auto manufacturer Audi had unveiled the new Audi Q7 in December last year ahead of the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. With the second generation of the large SUV, the brand with the four rings is setting new standards in its market segment and gearing up to launch their flagship SUV in the Indian market before Diwali 2015.

The new Audi Q7 impresses with respect to the operating concept, infotainment, connectivity and driver assistance systems. The second-generation modular infotainment platform is on board, as is the Audi virtual cockpit. The new MMI all-in-touch control unit with large touchpad makes operation seem effortless. Other attractive innovations include the expanded services from Audi connect, the Audi tablet for rear seat passengers and the two sound systems with 3D audio. Smartphone integration with Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is also new. Audi claims that the new Audi Q7 is one of the first cars worldwide to offer these functions.
The lightweight construction frame ensures that the new Audi Q7 is up to 325 kilograms lighter than its predecessor and reduces CO2 emissions by as much as 50 grams per kilometre. The 2015 Audi Q7 will come with an all-wheel drive. The Q7 SUV will be powered by the 3.0 TDI engine which is good to produce 272PS and capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.3 seconds

     Audi has finally confirmed an entry-level Q1 crossover SUV. Designed to rival the Nissan Juke, the Q1 will get more space and added ride height over the A1 supermini. Audi hopes the car will attract new buyers as much as it will those looking for improved practicality, but purists will argue that it's just another niche car with little real-world appeal. Built on the same platform as the Audi A3, it will seat four and be powered by the same engine range as the A1, meaning a sub-100g/km 1.6 TDI is on the cards.

Overview

Exterior

The Abarth Punto EVO gets new paint schemes, an Abarth logo in place of the Fiat logo and the T-Jet badging. There are also some cosmetic changes like a Scorpion decal, and red Abarth stickering at the sides set it apart from the current model on sale. The car features red-coloured OVRMs and a new pattern for the alloy wheels.

Interior

The interior of the Abarth Punto get some minute change than their previous models.The changes are FIAT logo on the steering wheel is replaced by the Abarth logo and the instrument cluster also gets an 'Abarth' badging in the centre. The cabin features new sporty pedals and comes with different seats with coloured stitching, while the remaining layout and equipment list is the same as the regular model of the hatchback there were no changes in it.

Engine and gearbox

The Punto EVO currently gets two petrol varrients. The base version is the 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine producing 67bhp while the higher spec is a 1.4-litre four-pot motor producing 89bhp. On the other hand, the T-Jet engine powering the Abarth Punto is a four-cylinder 1.4-litre varrient that produces 140bhp and 200Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. With a lowered ride height, disc brakes on all wheels, a stiffer suspension and this engine and gearbox combination the car might hit all the right chords.
